Identification of miRNA Targeting Hierarchies in Lymphocyte Development

Post-transcriptional gene regulation by miRNAs plays a fundamental role in many biological processes. The molecular mechanisms of miRNA function and target recognition are only partially understood. Using T-cell development as a defined physiologic model in combination with light-inducible tools and functional genomics, we will address fundamental questions how miRNAs repress a distinct set of functionally relevant target genes in the presence of an overall excess of miRNA response elements.
